The group enjoyed the Gordon Research Conference on Antimicrobial Peptides 2015 in Il Ciocco, Italy – the foremost international conference in our field. Thanks to Julia Dorin and Pieter Hiemstra for organising such an excellent meeting.
Donald gave an invited presentation on our work studying the modulatory effects of cathelcidins on neutrophil recruitment and bacterial clearance in pulmonary infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and dendritic cell differentiation and function, and co-chaired the session on “AMPs and the Microbiome at Epithelial Surfaces”. Brian and Bingjie also presented posters.
Donald was nominated and then elected to be a Vice Chair for the next conference in 2017 and Chair in 2019, together with Henk Haagsman . A great honour and exciting responsibility!
