Simon was an associated lab member when he studied for an MSc in Emerging and Neglected Infectious Diseases (distance learning) at the University of Edinburgh. He was employed by the Forensic Science Service as a DNA analyst before joining the Health Protection Agency at Porton Down, as an aerobiologist. Simon graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Microbiology from University of Wales, Aberystwyth. His research interests currently focuses on inhalational infection models of potential deliberate release agents. Simon’s MSc project, completed in 2012, investigated the aerosol survival of Burkholderia pseudomallei.
